Firewood

Logs are the least processed form of wood fuel but also the most versatile available and easy to use. They can be burnt on low efficiency open fires, in stoves and modern boilers.

With the development of high efficiency log burning technology, logs now provide a viable and renewable solution to domestic and small commercial heating requirements.

HARDWOOD:

Seasoned Hardwood like Ash, Oak, Beech, Birch, Sycamore and Hawthorne tend to give a longer burn as they are denser than Softwood.

SOFTWOOD:

Softwoods like Pine, Larch, Spruce and Fir tend to burn quicker.

KINDLING:

Kindling is usually small sticks of dry softwood.

The moisture content of your wood affects the way it it burned and the amount of heat it gives out.

Non seasoned wood (green wood) gives out very little heat and produces a lot of smoke which can cause damage to your stove and chiminey, which increases the risk of fumes returning to the room and chimney fire.

All our firewood is sold in cubic meter bags and air dried for over 12 months so that it's well seasoned for good burning. Available for local delivery or collection.

We also offer kiln dried firewood which has a very low moisture content.

*Please note that due to lack of space in the Kiln we can only store 10 bags, so kiln dried logs will need to be orderd in advance.

Logs can be cut or split to the size you require.
