Adam Lionel & Huw Griffith formed L & G Forestry in 1991 when they started extracting timber and selling firewood.

Adam's father, a timber merchant in the Aberystwyth area since 1950, was pleased to see the business continue. Huw had been working for the Lionel family before the business partnership was set up.

Over the years the business has expanded from timber extraction to offering a wide range of forestry services.

Today L & G Forestry plant, fence, offer tree surgery services as well as rhododendron and invasive plant control. Seven full time staff and several seasonal staff are emplyed to carry out the contracts secured for Forestry Commission Wales, CCW (now known as NRW) Flintshire Woodlands and local forestry consultants. Firewood sales have expanded dramatically over the years as oil and gas prices have risen and L & G now sell substantial orders of high quality seasoned firewood to private and comercial customers. Local timber is purchased at least a year before it's processed into logs. It's important that firewood is correctly seasoned so that it is more effective for consumers and is more environmentally friendly. We have recently installed a kiln drying plant to improve the quality and speed up the drying process of our logs. Prepacked logs and kindling are also supplied to a number of local shops and garages for customer convenience.
